Syeda Anjum (she/her) is a speculative fiction writer based in Queens, New York. Her work spans genres such as psychological horror, dark comedy, and contemporary fantasy. She is drawn to women-centered stories focused on first-generation experiences and generational trauma. Her short screenplay, Mama and Me, was a finalist in the Katra Film Series, as well as a quarter-finalist in the Big Apple Film Festival and Screenplay Competition. Her previous short film, May Be Unholy, screened at Astoria Film Festival and NewFilmmakers NY. In her free time, Syeda enjoys reading Tarot and people-watching with her cat.
